Police are seeking a 37-year-old man described as “armed and dangerous” who is wanted wanted in connection with an attempted murder incident Monday in Kaʻu.

Police are seeking a 37-year-old man described as “armed and dangerous” who is wanted wanted in connection with an attempted murder incident Monday in Kaʻu.

Nathan Cakin is described as Filipino, 5-feet-9-inches, 220 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

A 38-year-old Ka‘u man told police he was a passenger in a vehicle being driven by Cakin in Pahala’s Wood Valley. Once the vehicle came to a stop, Cakin allegedly brandished a firearm fired a shot, assaulted the alleged victim with the firearm, then used an edged weapon to continue the attack.

The alleged victim fled on foot and is being treated for the injuries he sustained, police said.

The public is advised to not approach Cakin, who should be considered armed and dangerous.
