Larry Takanori Inouye, 89, of Waimea died June 30 at home. Born in Waimea, he was a retired U.S. Army master sergeant who served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, a retired maintenance engineer at Tripler Army Medical Center and maintenance worker at the former Royal Waikoloan Hotel. Services held. Survived by wife, Amy Inouye of Waimea; son, Larry Inouye Jr. of Wahiawa, Oahu; daughters, Valerie (Roger Salazar) Inouye and Michele (Dennis) Tanaka of Waimea; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. Arleen Akie Kitagawa, 60, of Hilo, formerly of Honolulu, died July 1 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Honolulu, she worked at the state capitol, retired as a county Department of Human Resources technician and payroll and accounts clerk for Nursery Things. Services held. Survived by husband, Clifford Kitagawa of Hilo; sister, Rae (Gregory) Zane of Pepeekeo; brothers-in-law, Stephan Kitagawa and Bruce Kitagawa of Hilo; sister-in-law, Jane Chang of California; nieces and nephews.
