The state Land Board will hear oral arguments on a hearings officer’s recommendation in favor of the Thirty Meter Telescope land use permit Sept. 20 in Hilo.

Riki May Amano, a retired judge, issued her proposed findings of fact and conclusions of law in the contested case Wednesday. The report recommends the $1.4 billion project be built in the Mauna Kea Science Reserve.

The arguments will be heard in the Grand Naniloa Hotel’s Crown Room at 93 Banyan Drive.

During the hearing, each of the 23 contested case parties will have 15 minutes to present their arguments.

Exceptions to Amano’s recommendation may be filed by Aug. 21.
