Milbank’s hatred
OK, I understand that many people do not like President Donald Trump and those who comprise his administration.
I also understand and appreciate that many respected columnists use constructive criticism, with suggestions for doing things differently, which makes for interesting reading for subscribers no matter which political party they support.
However, Dana Milbank’s syndicated column, which the Tribune-Herald pays for and prints several times each week, serves no useful purpose whatsoever. His flaming, vitriolic, hate-spewing, temper-tantrum rants against President Trump dominate each and every one of his columns.
Mr. Milbank ran out of synonyms for hateful words months ago, so now the only thing that makes his column worth glancing at is seeing what angle of hate he’s using each day and imagining him as a child who holds his breath until he turns blue and throws himself on the floor after screaming obscenities at everyone within earshot.
I don’t believe this unprecedented level of endless hatred is something people in Hawaii, or the vast majority of your readers, hope to see in their small town newspaper.
The only thing worse than knowing Mr. Milbank will continue this ridiculous journalistic diatribe for the remainder of President Trump’s term is knowing that some portion of my subscription fee is going toward paying him for writing it.

Balancing nature
This is in response to letter to the editor from Jayne Leigh K. Florino (Your Views, July 26).
You certainly are an animal lover, as evidenced by your feeding of the feral cats at Lili‘uokalani Gardens.
My hope is that your love of animals extends to our beautiful birds, whose population is being depleted by the growing number of feral cats. If so, I’m sure you’re doing everything in your power to keep the feral cat population under control.
Isn’t it wonderful to have free live animal traps available for our use and offers for free spay/neuter services.
Your efforts to keep nature balanced — the birds flying and singing and the soil free of cat fecal toxins — are appreciated.
