Clarion “Clarence” “Larry” Bidal, 82, of Pahoa died Aug. 1 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Opihikao, he was a retired member of the Hilo International Airport crash, fire and rescue crew, U.S. Marine Corps and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran and member of Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Pepeekeo Sportsman Club, Disabled American Veterans and Pahoa Higashi Machi Kumiai. Visitation 4-5 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 23) at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Wake service at 5 p.m. All-night vigil to follow at family home in Pahoa. Visitation again 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 24) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by son, Conrad (Ilanit) Bidal of Pahoa; daughter, Pearla (Ray) Peralta of Kalihi, Oahu; brother, Leonardo (Francine) Bidal of Kaneohe, Oahu; sisters, Trinidad Jakosalem of Kalihi and Felisa Hanohano of Pahoa; sisters-in-law, Feliciana Carbonero and Barbara Bidal of Kurtistown; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Susan Keanu, 77, of Pahoa died Aug. 11 at St. Francis Hospice in Honolulu. She was born in San Bernardino, Calif. Visitation 9-9:30 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 22) at Ballard Family Mortuary. Services 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Survived by sons, Aaron R. Keanu, Austin R. Keanu and Alan R. Keanu; daughter, Amanda R. Esther Leinaala Nelson, 82, of Kawanui died July 21 at home. Born in Kealakekua, she was a homemaker, missionary, former Sunday school teacher and business owner. Born in Roswell, N.M., he was a journeyman electrician, farmer, fisherman, private pilot, canoe paddler, softball player and U.S. Navy veteran.
