A 28-year-old Pahoa woman accused of driving away from a traffic collision that killed a motorcyclist Thursday afternoon has been charged with three offenses.
According to a police log, Gaelynn Puanani Kahee was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, a Class C felony, plus third-degree negligent homicide and driving without a license, both misdemeanors.
Kahee, according to police, was driving south in a 1991 Nissan pickup truck south on the Pahoa bypass section of Highway 130 and made a left turn onto Highway 132 near Pahoa High School, failing to yield right of way to a northbound motorcyclist.
The resulting collision killed 39-year-old Ernest Jackson of Pahoa.
Kahee, who turned herself in to police several hours later, remained in custody Saturday morning in lieu of $6,000 bail.
An initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
