Stanton leads an ongoing series of acrylic painting workshops for artists of all levels from noon-3 p.m. Sept. 11 and 25 at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus. Each three-hour class is a hands-on painting session where participants learn to approach their painting process with a new awareness and understanding of color dynamics and composition.

Participants will begin the first session with a 16-by-20-inch canvas.

Stanton helps artists heighten and accentuate their own unique vision with bold colors, lines and shapes. With important tips on acrylic paints and mediums, artists create a painting on canvas using a more immediate and intuitive process.

Stanton guides artists on “painterly” ways to put on the finishing stokes. Stanton also offers individual instruction for artists during each session.

The Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus is located at 19-4074 Old Volcano Road in Volcano Village. No previous experience needed.

Students bring their own supplies and easels; bringing a piece to show the group is optional. The cost for each session is $20/$15 for VAC members.

A student supply list is available online at www.volcanoartcenter.org or by calling 967-8222.
