The 2nd annual Contemporary Craft Juried Exhibit sponsored by the Hawaii Island Art Alliance and Hawaii Craftsmen is happening at the Wailoa Center through Sept. 28.

The 2nd annual Contemporary Craft Juried Exhibit sponsored by the Hawaii Island Art Alliance and Hawaii Craftsmen is happening at the Wailoa Center through Sept. 28.

Artists who work in ceramics, glass, wood, metal fiber and mixed media were encouraged to enter. The exhibit was juried by Oahu glass artist Mark Mitsuda, who will attend the awards ceremony and opening reception for the artists from 5-7 p.m. Friday. Light refreshments will be served.

Mitsuda will also be giving a short presentation of his work and lead a gallery walk at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wailoa Center. Both events are free and open to the public. Also exhibiting at Wailoa Center are “Artists from Maui,” featuring Tim Garcia, Brad Huck, Zenobia Lakdawalla, Jack Reilly, Stephanie Sachs, Al Schwartz and M. Takemoto in the Fountain Gallery.

Wailoa Center is a Division of State Parks, Department of Land and Natural Resources. It is free and open to the public from 8:30 a.m-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
