Police have arrested a 25-year-old Hilo woman, wanted in an alleged Wednesday machete-point

carjacking in Hilo.

On a tip from the public, officers took Kandace Kehaulani Iaukea into custody without incident at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at a Hilinai Street home in Hilo.

The 2011 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that had been reported stolen the day prior was also recovered.

Iaukea was charged with first degree robbery, driving a stolen vehicle, first-degree terroristic threatening and contempt of court.

Her bond was set at $61,000 and her initial appearance is scheduled for today in Hilo District Court this afternoon.

Police are still seeking her alleged accomplice, 31-year old Leroy Daniel Kekaula Castro III.

He’s described as 5-foot-7, 150 pounds, with brown eyes and short black hair, and is known to frequent the Hilo and Puna areas.

The public is advised not to approach Castro, whom police consider armed and dangerous.
