Masae K. “Peggy” Horiuchi, 91, of Keaau died Sept. 12 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Keaau, she was a retired clerk at the Keaau Post Office and member of Keaau Village Association, Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and Hui Okinawa. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by son, Sam Horiuchi of Keaau; sisters, Betty Matsumoto of Honolulu, Natsuko Uehara of Mountain View and Jane (Edward) Imamura of Aiea, Oahu; sister-in-law, Lillian Kiyabu of Aiea; nephews and nieces. Yukiko O. Nakayama, 94, of Hilo, formerly of Kauai, died Aug. 21 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Yokohama, Japan, she was a professional seamstress and homemaker. Private services and celebration of life at Hale Anuenue held. The family expresses its gratitude to the staff of Hale Anuenue and Dr. David Nakamura. Cathleen Ann “Cathy” “Cat” Swedelius, 68, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 9 at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Seattle, she was a psychiatric social worker, past president and board member of AdvoCATS and retired U.S. Air Force captain. Services held. Survived by husband, Glenn Swedelius of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Ruth Ann Carpenter of Arkansas; stepdaughter, Jessica Swedelius of Nevada; stepson, David Swedelius of Indonesia; parents, Edwin and Winifred Rosen of Cheney, Wash.; brother, John (Billie) Rosen of Olympia, Wash.; sisters, Lynn (Bruce) Hand of Millville, N.J., Maria (Gary) Ware of Cheney and Shelley (Norman) LeBret of Loon Lake, Wash.; three granddaughters.
