Police are investigating the death of a Hilo worker who died in a fatal fall at a Panaewa warehouse Tuesday.

Police are investigating the death of a Hilo worker who died in a fatal fall at a Panaewa warehouse Tuesday.

The man, identified as 45-year-old painting company employee Peter Tosie, reportedly fell 40 feet through a fiberglass roof onto the concrete floor of a warehouse he was painting on Kealakai Street.

Officers responded to reports of the accident at 1:42 p.m. and Tosie was transported to the Hilo Medical Center in critical condition. Tosie succumbed to his injuries at 2:19 p.m.

The police investigation of the accident is ongoing. An autopsy is scheduled on Friday to determine the cause of Tosie’s death.
