Free hydroponic classes are being offered to the public in Hilo for six weeks from 9 a.m.-noon every Saturday beginning Oct. 21 at the Pana‘ewa Farmers Market on Railroad Avenue across from Home Depot.
The Basic Certificate in Family &Small Scale Commercial Hydroponic Vegetable Production classes are being administered in coordination with the Keaukaha Pana‘ewa Farmers Association. KPFA staff will conduct the classes. Space is limited.
“We at KPFA want to gratefully acknowledge and thank our staff for their professional expertise and time dedicated to serving the community in teaching countless numbers of people to become self-sustaining through hydroponic production of safe food for our tables,” said Maile Lu‘uwai, president of the Keaukaha Pana‘ewa Farmers Association.
“Please join us in learning to become advocates of healthy eating and sustainable lifestyles,” she said.
Lu‘uwai said KPFA’s mission is to strive and continue to work together as a growing community in gaining skills and knowledge that will contribute to a year-round productive harvest through hydroponic practices.
