The Hawaii County Council adopted a resolution Wednesday urging a peaceful solution to the conflict with North Korea.
The Hawaii County Council adopted a resolution Wednesday urging a peaceful solution to the conflict with North Korea.
The measure introduced by Council Chairwoman Valerie Poindexter and Hilo Councilman Aaron Chung was passed 8-0. Kohala Councilman Tim Richards was absent.
Testifiers urged the council to support the resolution, citing the possibility of war as tensions increase over North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.
Some blamed President Donald Trump for unnecessarily increasing those tensions with bombastic threats.
