Caroline Leilani Ferreira, 45, of Pahoa died Oct. 3 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a former standing guard for Aloha Security, former janitor for Hilo International Airport and a member of the Koa Puna Motorcycle Club. Visitation 5:30-6 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 26) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Celebration of life at 6 p.m.; cremation to follow. Casual attire. Dean Fukuyama, 66, of Hilo died Sept. 23 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was retired from the county Department of Water Supply, a member of Word of God Church and veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Roy Shigeo Higa, 91, of Pepeekeo died Sept. 27 at home. Born in Pepeekeo, he was the retired owner of Tradewind Flowers on Oahu, a member of Honomu Henjoji Mission, Macadamia Nut Association and American Legion and a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Tadashi Higuchi, 82, of Hilo died Oct. 4 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, he retired from the Hawaii Fire Department as a captain, was a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Waiakea Home Site Community Association, Hawaii Firefighters Association, Pirates Golf Club and Terrible Golf Club and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War era.
