The second annual Contemporary Craft juried exhibit at the Wailoa Center in September featured entries from 55 artists throughout the state and works made of ceramics, glass, wood, metal, fiber and mixed media.

The exhibit was hosted by the Hawaii Island Art Alliance and partially funded by a grant from the Hawaii Craftsmen organization.

Mark Mitsuda, president of Hawaii Craftsmen and leader of the glass program at Punahou School on Oahu, was this year’s exhibit juror. Throughout the month, more than 1,000 visitors viewed the exhibit. Guests were able to vote for their favorite artwork, with the winner receiving the People’s Choice award.
