The University of Hawaii at Hilo will be showing the documentary film “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power” at 11 a.m. Thursday in Room 108 of the Sciences and Technology Building.

The film is sequel to former Vice President Al Gore’s 2006 film “An Inconvenient Truth,” about his campaign to spread awareness about global warming.

The sequel will be followed by a live 30-minute webcast with Gore from Washington, D.C., which will be viewed by dozens of other schools in addition to UH-Hilo. Seating is limited and priority will be given to students and faculty.

Gore’s sequel is a follow-up which shows just how close we are to a real energy revolution, according to information online about the film.

“Gore continues his tireless fight, traveling around the world meeting with climate champions and influencing international climate policy as he pursues the inspirational idea that the perils of climate change can be overcome with human ingenuity and passion,” the website states.

The event is made possible through a Title III Native Hawaiian Serving-Institutions Grant under UH-Hilo’s Office of the Interim Chancellor, Hawaii Community College Office of the Chancellor, Kipuka Native Hawaiian Student Center and the UH-Hilo Sustainability Committee.
