Konoe “Kay” Kuba Miyada, 103, of Keaau died Aug. 29 in Honolulu. She was a retiree of Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Co. Private services at a later date. Survived by daughters, Shirley (Stanley) Nagao of Gardena, Calif., Sharon (Richard) Yamanaka of Honolulu, Diana (Roy) Yamanouchi of San Jose, Calif.; son, Russell (Linda) Miyada of Vancouver, Wash.; sister, Michiko Okuna Ryan of Hilo; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Alice Akie Oda, 78, of Hilo died Oct. 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Spreckelsville, Maui, she was a homemaker. Private services held. No koden (monetary donations). Survived by son, Alan (Carina) Oda of Hilo; daughter, Kimberley (Randy) Oshiro of Hilo; brothers, Stanley (Joan) Honda of Maui and Richard (Janet) Honda of Honolulu; sister, Harriet Itano of Chicago; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Tsukasa “Tsuka” Sugiyama, 92, of Laupahoehoe died Sept. 21 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Kaiakea, he was a retired mechanic for the Laupahoehoe and Hamakua sugar companies, member of Papaaloa Hongwanji Mission and veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Private services held. No flowers; no koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sons, Bryan (Faye) Sugiyama of Hilo, Sandy (Diane H.K.) Sugiyama of Waimea; sister, Irene (Abel) Awong of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Yasuko Sugiyama of Hilo, Kiyoko Sugiyama of Laupahoehoe; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
