Four Kona men are charged with an alleged strong-arm robbery Saturday night in Kailua-Kona and one of the men is charged with a separate alleged assault.
A 33-year-old man told police he was assaulted by an unfamiliar man near the corner of Palani Road and Kuakini Highway. After being assaulted, the alleged victim fell on the road and was struck by a moving vehicle, causing minor injuries.
At about the same time, a 29-year-old man reported that while in the parking lot of a business establishment on Kuakini Highway, four men approached him, demanding money. They then allegedly entered the man’s vehicle, took items without permission and headed north on Pawai Place on foot.
Police arrested 32-year-old Eddie Faafia of Honaunau, 31-year-old Micheal Johnson of Kailua-Kona and Donchevell Makekau and Andrew Ollero-Heist, both 20 and of Kailua-Kona.
All were charged Sunday with second-degree robbery. Faafia and Johnson also were charged with unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle and Faafia was charged second-degree assault.
Faafia’s bail was set at $9,000, Johnson’s at $7,000 and $5,000 for Makekau and Ollero-Heist. All made their initial appearances Monday in Kona District Court.
