Puna Councilwoman Eileen O’Hara pulled her resolution Wednesday that would have granted a one-year extension.
That means the work will need to be done by March 17, 2018, otherwise the 20-acre parcel at the intersection of 26th Avenue and Kaloli Drive will revert back to the HPP Owners Association.
The association transferred the property to the county in 2016 for a park, assuming the plan is made in two years.
Concerned the county was taking too long, O’Hara introduced the resolution to make the extension. But she decided to pull it in response to testifiers who wanted to keep with the current timeline.
“I want to stand with the residents and demand the county do what it said it was going to do,” O’Hara said.
The county Parks and Recreation Department is finalizing a $300,000 contract with SSFM International to do the plan.
O’Hara said the company intends to get the plan done by March 12, 2018.
