James Toshio Arakawa, 76, of Paauilo died Nov. 4 at Hale Hoola Hamakua. Born in Paauilo, he was a retired state health inspector, member of the former Paauilo-Kalopa Kumiai and U.S. Navy veteran during Vietnam War. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Onofre Sabalo Cabalce, 89, of Keaau died Oct. 29 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Parparia, Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, the Philippines, he was a retired seed cutter for the former Puna Sugar Co. and member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Keaau. Chasen Kamauliolawehiwaonakupuna Quihano Juan, 20 months, of Pahoa died Oct. 24 at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu. He was born in San Diego. Seijitsu “Lefty” Yogi, 92, of Hilo died Oct. 16 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Papaikou, he was a retired clerk at the Hilo main post office, member of Hilo Hooganji Mission, Hui Okinawa, Wreckers Golf Club and a U.S. Army veteran during World War II.
