Housewarming gifts from the heart: Artist presents watercolor paintings to Habitat for Humanity clients

East Hawaii artist Laurie Connable recently created 10 watercolor paintings for 10 Habitat for Humanity families who each received a home.

She presented families with the paintings Nov. 4 at their new homes in Kona during Reveal Day, the highly anticipated move-in date. Connable said each original painting was made with requested themes from each ohana.

Unable to contribute to Habitat for Humanity building projects physically, Connable said she gives back to the community using her God-given gifts and finds great joy in encouraging seniors.

“Today was amazing! It was a true honor and joy to be a part of the Habitat for Humanity Reveal Day,” Connable said. “It was a treat to meet the families and visit their new homes.

“I feel grateful to God for giving me the gift of creativity and the idea to paint watercolors for the families. I’m not able to pound nails and frame homes any more. Being able to participate in this beautiful organization was awesome!”
