The N2 Dance Company will present two performances of “N2 Dance The Fifth Element,” a dance and vocal concert, at 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 9 at the YWCA of Hawaii Island in Hilo.
The concert showcases 60 talented dancers and singers, from the young to the young at heart.
The theme is based on the 1997 science-fiction movie “The Fifth Element.” N2 Dance tells the story through stunning costumes, enchanting songs, hip-hop, b-boy, contemporary jazz, hula, disco and Latin dance.
Each piece represents one of four classical elements: earth (confidence and stability), wind/air (spontaneous and fun), water (peaceful and calm) and fire (passion and drive).
The fifth element combines the power of the other four elements into a divine light capable of defeating evil.
The fun, family friendly concert takes place at a casual, breezy venue complete with stadium seating for easy viewing.
There will be a food concession and silent auction to support the N2 Dance Company members who will participate in dance and vocal competitions in Honolulu and San Diego next summer.
Company members are Jhiro Calso, Kyra Grace, Mariana Low, Kekala Mantree, Leah Newhall, Emmy Okinaka, Zarah Paresa, Maya Polloi, Lacey Ray, Diana Roark, Mia Tulang and Kekuahiwi Woods.
Ticket prices are $10 general admission (stadium seating) and $5 keiki ages 3-11 (floor seating) and are available at Big Island Book Buyers, Keaau Natural Foods and Pahoa Used Books. Keiki 2 and younger are free (lap seating). Tickets purchased at the door will be $15 general admission and $10 for keiki 3-11.
