Joseph “Joe” P. Bautista, 75, of Hilo died Nov. 10 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired county Parks and Recreation worker at Honomu and Papaikou gyms, U.S. Army veteran, officiated Big Island Interscholastic Federation basketball, coached Hilo High School football and coached several age-group sports. Visitation 3-4:25 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 16). Military honors at 4:25 p.m. Memorial service at 4:30 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by wife, Irene Bautista of Hilo; sons, Blaine Bautista and Kevin (Ashley Monden) Bautista of Hilo; daughters, Michelle Bautista-Salazar of Las Vegas, Rochelle (Stanley) Martines Jr. of San Francisco and Jonelle (Jimmy) Vita of Hilo; brothers, Alfred (Aycel) Esteban of Las Vegas, Albert (Darlene) Esteban of North Carolina, George (Louise) Esteban of San Francisco, David (Bernie) Esteban of Honolulu and Ernest Esteban of Arizona; sisters-in-law, Karen (Henry) Yee of San Francisco, Judy Salas of Guam and Sandra (Clayton) Nakano of Hilo; brothers-in-law, Jerry (Susan) Takata of Hilo and Bert (Sheri) Takata of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews; arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.
