Kenneth Joseph Kagawa, 76, of Hilo, formerly of Lahaina, Maui, died Nov. 12 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Lihue, Kauai, he was a retired teacher for Lahainaluna High School on Maui, retired president and treasurer for Lahaina Federal Credit Union and member of Lahaina Kamaaina Fishing Club, Hawaii State Teachers Association and Retired Teachers Association. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 17) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Leslie Sadilek-Sampson, 65, of Galva, Ill., formerly of Hilo, died Nov. 30 at Toulon Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Toulon, Ill. Born in San Francisco, she was a hairdresser, salon manager, danced hula for Halau o Kekuhi and Tahitian and Maori dance, and was an avid reader. Celebration of life 2 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 16) at Galva Congregational Church. Her ashes will later be committed in a private ceremony in Hilo. Memorial donations can be directed to the family for a memorial to be established. Survived by daughter, Francesca Sadilek-Sampson of Urbana, Ill.; sister, Lynda (Michael) Sadilek Guinnee of Galva; two uncles, a niece and a nephew and their children.
