“Eclectic Diversity,” a unique art exhibition opening in January at the Wailoa Center in Hilo, gives islandwide talent an opportunity to showcase the variety of world-class art found on the Big Island.
The Wailoa Center, celebrating its 51st year, will host the exhibition from Jan. 3-25. Many of the artists are featured in the permanent collection purchased by the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and are in private collections throughout the world.
An opening reception is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. Jan. 5. This is a great opportunity for the public to meet the artists in person. Light refreshments will be served. Art and cultural exhibits are free and the facility is open to the public.
“This rare presentation offers several pieces on display from some of the very best talent on the Big Island who specialize in a diverse range of media,” said Michael Cromwell, “Eclectic Diversity” exhibition curator. “I invited these artists to join me in displaying their depth of talent.
“The newly remodeled Wailoa Center is the largest exhibition space on the Big Island and is the perfect venue to showcase more than 10 pieces of art from each individual artist in one location.”
The Wailoa Center, at 200 Piopio St., is a division of State Parks, Department of Land and Natural Resources. It is open from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, closed Saturday, Sunday and state holidays. For more information, visit wailoacenter.com or call 933-0416.
