Agnes Meyer Carvalho, 89, of Hilo died Dec. 4 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Laupahoehoe, she was a retired telephone operator for the former Hawaiian Telephone Co. and member of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church and Rippers Sewing Circle. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Friday (Dec. 22) at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church, 326 Desha Ave. in Keaukaha. Mass at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. Burial at noon at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Survived by sons, Dennis J. (Diane) Carvalho of Keaau and Michael Anthony (Pam) Carvalho of Hilo; sisters, Dorothy Lanza, Annie Lum and Mary Anna Meyer of Honolulu; sisters-in-law, Lucy Meyer of Hilo and Hideko Meyer of Honolulu; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Robert Ernest Jardine Sr., 84, of Wapunalei died Dec. 6 at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Waipunalei, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., U.S. Army veteran and member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation 5-9 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 20) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 21) at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe. Mass at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Burial at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Survived by daughter, Brenda (Mark) DeRego of Ahualoa; son, Robert Ernest Jardine Jr. of Paauhau; sister, Theresa Wilt of Hilo; brother-in-law, Albert Rodriques of Paauilo; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Pauline Rosalie Lutkenhouse, 89, of Papaikou died Dec. 2 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Cleveland, she co-founded Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens. Private services held. No flowers. Memorial donations to The Food Basket or Boys and Girls Club of Hilo. Survived by sister, Margaret Savickas of Cleveland; stepdaughter, Debara (Jim) Lutkenhouse-Frost of Pleasanton, Calif.; stepson, Dan (Laurie) Lutkenhouse Jr. of Truckee, Calif.; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Carlos Po‘okela Uribe-Bounos, 20, of Hilo and Ocean View, died Nov. 30 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Mexico City, he was an employee at Target, student at the University of Hawaii at Hilo, played football, soccer, tennis, volleyball and ran track and cross-country at Ka‘u High School and played guitar and ‘ukulele. All-night vigil starting 5 p.m. today at the family home, 92-8803 Lotus Blossom Circle in Ocean View. Visitation 10-10:45 a.m. Monday (Dec. 18) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu. Mass at 10:45 a.m. Burial to follow at Naalehu County Cemetery. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Anthony “Tony” “Coach Tony” Lili‘uokalani Wise, 63, of Puna died Dec. 1 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Honolulu, he was an executive chef for the former Hawaii Naniloa Hotel, youth counselor at Salvation Army of Hilo and coach/founder of Puna Pistons basketball team.
