Kamehameha let Pahoa hang around for a quarter before running away.

Isaiah Nakoa-Oness scored 16 points Monday night and Nalu Kahapea added 14 as the Warriors beat the Daggers 65-41 in a BIIF boys basketball season opener at Koaia Gym in Keaau.

Damon Romero led the Daggers with 17.

Kamehameha pulled away during a 20-point second quarter, turning an 18-14 lead into a 38-18 halftime advantage.

Hilo 84, Ka’u 50: Liko Medeiros scored 21 points to pace three scorers in double figures as the Vikings won in Pahala.

Jojo Balagot added 19 points and Kekaukahi Alameda had 18 for Hilo, which exploded for 31 points in the second quarter to lead 47-23 at halftime.

Kelii Perry also scored for Kamehameha (4-1), David Erskine and Logan Waltjen picked up two assists apiece and Jameson Sato and Christian Hironaga shared in the shutout against the Cowboys (3-2-1).
