Rotary Club of Hilo Bay accepting applications
The Rotary Club of Hilo Bay is accepting scholarship applications from Big Island teens graduating in 2018.
The $5,000 scholarship is open to all Big Island teens, and will help with college expenses.
If you know a student in need of money for college, have them contact their high school counselor to pick an application or email hryf@hawaii.rr.com. They also can call Kim at 333-6635.
Deadline is Feb. 7 for Rotary Youth Foundation funds
HONOLULU — The Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation scholarship application process is underway. The submission deadline for application from Hawaii high school seniors is Wednesday, Feb. 7.
A total of $250,000 in scholarship grants will be awarded in April to students throughout the state, with scholarships of $5,000 awarded to 46 students and two “outstanding students,” who will receive one $10,000 Maurice J. Sullivan Scholar Award or one $10,000 Joanna Lau Sullivan Award.
All statewide interested high school seniors, as well as any home-schooled senior student, can apply for an HRYF college scholarship award.
There are three ways to obtain application forms.
Interested seniors can contact their high school college counselor, contact one of the Rotary clubs on their island or visit the Rotary District 5000 website at www.rotaryd5000.org, look under “District Links” on the right, then HRYF and “Application Packet” and download an application.
Eligibility criteria are on the application.

The Hawaii Rotary Youth Foundation was founded by Maurice J. “Sully” Sullivan in 1976 and provides support with scholarship grants that assist Hawaii’s high school seniors in achieving their goal of attending college.
Since 1976, more than 1,700 scholarships with a total value of more than $6 million dollars have been awarded to Hawaii high school seniors on all major islands.
