John Rodrigues Sr., 81, of Hilo and Kawaihae died Jan. 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired sales and leasing consultant for Big Island Honda-Hilo and recipient of Honda Motor Co. President’s Award in 2004, former district manager for Avis Rent A Car, past president of Waiakea Lions Club and St. Joseph School Parent-Teachers Group, former athletic director of St. Joseph School, U.S. Army veteran and member of Association of Foresters — Court Mauna Kea No. 8854, Hilo Seventh-day Adventist Church, Alumni and Friends of St. Joseph School and board member of Hilo Airport Transportation Department. Visitation 4-9 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 25) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 6 p.m. Graveside committal service and burial 10 a.m. Friday (Jan. 26) at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Lynette Leinaala Rodrigues of Hilo; son, John (Kim) Rodrigues Jr. of Hilo; daughter, Johnalyn (Alton) Nosaka of Hilo; brothers, Lawrence Rodrigues Jr. of Pearl City, Oahu, Samson (Karen) Rodrigues of Kaneohe, Oahu, Edmund Rodrigues of Hilo and Glenn Rodrigues of Honolulu; sister, Cyrilla Makalena of Waimanalo, Oahu; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Kaaumoana of Hilo, Theola (Bernard) Kuamoo of Mililani, Oahu, and Arlene Kaaumoana of Hilo; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, an aunt and cousins.
