Roy Rogelio Asia, 72, of Honokaa died Jan. 7. He was a retired wrangler and tour driver for Waipi‘o Valley Shuttle, Na‘alapa Stables, Waipi‘o on Horseback and Waipi‘o Ridge Stables, ranch hand for RK Farms, hanawai worker and truck driver for the former Hamakua Sugar Co. and U.S. Navy veteran. Eunice Aloha Hiapo-Matthews, 82, of San Diego, formerly of Hilo and Honolulu, died Jan. 14. Born in Keaukaha, she was an interpreter for the hearing impaired, former member of the Hilo Seventh-day Adventist Church and graduate of Hilo High School. Survived by six children; sisters, Margaret Miranda of Oceanside, Calif., Elaine Brown of Papakolea, Oahu, and Marilyne Tau‘a of Kula, Maui; sister-in-law, Gwen Hiapo of Keaukaha; seven grandchildren and a great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
