Scattered rainfall likely will continue in Hilo throughout the week.
According to the National Weather Service’s most recent forecast, scattered showers likely will occur periodically throughout the week, with chances of precipitation reaching as high as 80 percent.
The rainfall continues after a statewide flash flood watch ended Monday afternoon. A flood advisory for South Hilo and Puna also was briefly issued for three hours Monday afternoon, while a winter weather advisory for the summits of Mauna Loa and Maunakea also ended yesterday.
Meanwhile, a high surf advisory for east-facing shores is in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday. Residents are advised to exercise caution along the shorelines because of dangerous waves and currents.
The NWS predicts rainfall totals each day this week to reach no more than 1/10 of an inch.
