As a strong high pressure front approaches the island, elevated surf is expected to affect all east-facing shores on the island until 6 a.m. Monday.
With surf expected to reach 6 to 10 feet, residents are advised to exercise caution when approaching shorelines.
Meanwhile, a wind advisory is in effect for the Big Island until 6 p.m. today, with wind speeds of between 15 and 30 mph predicted and localized gusts of up to 50 mph. Drivers, especially, are advised to watch for wind-borne debris.
