The state Department of Health certified a third independent laboratory Tuesday to conduct cannabis testing on products from licensed dispensaries.
Aeos Labs Inc., an Oahu-based laboratory operated by Clinical Labs of Hawaii, passed its final inspections by the DOH’s State Laboratories Division and demonstrated its capacity to test cannabis plant products in compliance with state laws.
“The certification of Aeos Labs provides more options for dispensaries to receive accurate and valid testing of medical cannabis,” said Wanda Chang, chief of the DOH’s Environmental Health Analytic Services Branch.
Certified laboratories can inspect and test cannabis distributed by licensed medical dispensaries to ensure patients receive safe products. Dispensaries are unable to sell cannabis products without having them inspected by a certified laboratory.
The other two labs certified by the state are Oahu’s Steep Hill Hawaii, certified last July, and Maui’s Pharmlabs Hawaii LLC, certified in October.
