Joshua K. Akana Jr., 89, of Waimea died March 13 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired engineer for Hawaiian Electric Co. and member of Hawaiian Electric Glee Club, Native Hawaiian Education, Prince Kuhio Club and Waimea Senior Citizens Club. Dennis Toshiharu Arakaki, 69, of Hilo died Feb. 4 in Las Vegas. Born in Hawaii, he was retired from Pizza Hut, a former Hawaii regional president for U-Haul and store manager for the former S.H. Kress and McCory companies. Celebration of life with refreshments noon-4 p.m. Sunday (March 25) at Hilo Woman’s Club, 7 Lele St. Survived by wife, Frances Arakaki of Hilo; son, John (Sherry) Macayan Jr. of Hilo; brothers, Harry (Melanie) Arakaki of Oahu, Allen (Beverly) Arakaki of Hawaii Kai, Oahu, and Roy (Jaynie) of Las Vegas; sisters, Sandra (Yoshiaki) Tanabe of Waialua, Oahu, and Lillian Takata of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Sadaki “Cowboy” Fujisawa, 85, of Hilo died March 5 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a carpenter and farmer, member of Hilo Higashi Hongwaji Mission and U.S. Army veteran. Private services held. Masako Asato Kimoto, 98, of Pepeekeo died March 5 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a retired food preparer for the former Moya’s Catering and member of Honomu Hongwanji Mission and Kulaimano Senior Citizens Club. Kumakani “Ku” Tadius Natyro Lee-Ubedei, 20, of Hilo died March 3 in Okinawa, Japan. Born in Hilo, he was a U.S. Marine lance corporal specializing in data technology.
