Born in Keaukaha, she was a graduate of Hilo High School and Hawaii Community College, DOE East Hawaii Special Education Title I Specialist and a Hawaiian cultural consultant for agencies including the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Queen Lili‘uokalani Children’s Center, Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi, Hui Malama I Na Kupuna o Hawai‘i Nei, Hui Hoola O Na Nahulu O Hawaii, Lokahi Treatment Center, North Hawaii Community Hospital and Big Island Substance Abuse Council, member of Waimea Hawaiian Homestead Association and Hawaii Island Burial Council, and member and co-founder of Edith Kanaka‘ole Foundation.
