The state Department of Transportation on Thursday began its scheduled inspection of Wailuku Bridge, known as the Singing Bridge, in Hilo.
The inspection started Thursday and will continue today and May 29-31, weather-permitting, said Don Smith, district engineer for DOT’s Highways Division.
The inspections will be performed from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Motorists might encounter traffic delays.
Smith said the department inspects all of its bridges biannually as part of its bridge inspection program. No actual work is being completed on the bridge.
