Waiakea graduate Sarah Dvorak’s college tennis career came to an end Thursday when she and fellow Texas Tech senior Sabrina Federici lost to North Carolina’s Alle Sanford and Sara Daavettila 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) in the opening round of the NCAA doubles tennis championships in Winston Salem, N.C.
Sanford and Daavettila replaced a duo from Duke that scratched from competition early Thursday morning. In the last meeting, Dvorak and Federici defeated Sanford and Daavettila, 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6) in the ITA National Fall Championship consolation round of 16.
Dvorak finished the season 10-7 when playing No. 1 doubles and 18-4 in singles.

Enriques all over the map
Stanford volleyball senior Evan Enriques, a Kamehameha graduate, was selected as an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American for a third time.
Named to the second team, the libero finished his time as a Cardinal ranked in the top 5 all-time with 797 career digs. Enriques, a first-teamer as a sophomore and honorable mention last season, ranked second in the Mountain Sports Federation with 2.22 digs per set and tallied double-digit digs on eight occasions in 2018.
Enriques (science, technology and society – 3.14 GPA), also earned MPSF all-academic accolades.
He was one of four Enriques siblings to play college libero this past season.
• After playing his first two seasons at Cal Baptist, Kamehameha graduate Emmett Enriques played in 20 matches at for Cal State Northridge, registering 113 digs.
Sharing the court with his older brother, he played in all three sets Jan. 17 as the Matadors swept Stanford.
• Former Warrior Avery Enriques played in 10 matches as a freshman at Grand Canyon, finishing with 25 digs.
• Freshman Addison Enriques made two starts at libero for Concordia-Irvine, collecting 55 digs in 26 matches.
Kubo makes the grade
Kamehameha graduate Katelynn Kubo, a sophomore water polo player at La Salle, was named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic team. Kubo was fourth for the Explorers with 11 goals and had five assists.
• Junior Pua Wong, also a Kamehameha graduate, tallied 20 goals for Cal Baptist, finishing sixth for the Eagles in scoring.
