The Honomu Henjoji Mission (Odaishisan) invites everyone to join the celebration during its 2018 Bon Dance Festival.

The festival, which features live music by the Hilo Bon Dance Club, begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 16, with the Hatsubon and obon service. The service will be followed by the obon dance at 7 p.m.

There also will be lots of food and drinks sold at the concession stand, including saimin, shave ice, chili with rice, baked goods, hot dogs and more.

The mission is located at 28-1668 Old Mamalahoa Highway in Honomu. To get there, turn off of Highway 19 at the Akaka Falls turnoff then turn left at the Akaka Falls sign. The temple is next to Mr. Ed’s Bakery.

For more information, contact Bishop Clark Watanabe at 963-6308 or send the mission a message on Facebook.
