Michael Tadashi Nakamura, 72, of Hilo died June 14 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired Hilo High School auto mechanics teacher and U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. Edward “Baka” “Baker” Requelman, 81, of Glenwood died June 10 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kohala, he was a retired mechanic for the Mac Farms of Hawaii, laborer for the former Laupahoehoe Sugar Co., school bus driver, security guard at Ka‘u High and Pahala Elementary schools and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran. Visitation 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 9, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation again 8-10 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Henry J. Tavares, Jr., 55, of Hilo died May 31 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Honokaa, he was a retired Hawaii Police Department assistant chief, associate pastor and Church Council member of Word of God, graduate of the 208th session of the FBI National Academy, member of New Hope Church-Hilo, Hilo Yacht Club, and Hui Maka‘i Motorcycle Club.
