Sea to Stars Road Race
Hawaii Cycling Club and Bike Works on Aug. 4 are once again presenting the Sea to Stars Road Race, a 48-mile uphill race that starts at the bottom of Waikoloa Road and ends 9,800 vertical feet later just below the Maunakea Visitors Station.
Aid stations, a postrace catered lunch, and finish medals are given to all, with an awards ceremony and cash prizes for the top finishers.
The entry fee is $105.

HPA’s Lawson spurs Hawaii
Maile Lawson of Kailua-Kona earned two silver medals at the Oceania Swimming Championships in Papua New Guinea, finishing second in the 100- and 200-meter breaststroke events.
Hawaii Prep’s Lawson, the lone Big Island swimmer, also earned bronze in all but one of her six relay events.
Hawaii, which took home 23 medals, was managed by Waiakea coach Bill Sakovich.
HIA/Heineken softball tourney
Hawaiian Isle Athletics will hold its annual HIA/Heineken slow pitch softball tournament from July 27-29 at Wong Stadium and Walter Victor complex.
