Youth basketball league
The Department of Parks and Recreation is holding a coed basketball league at Andrews Gym beginning in August.
The league will be for ages 5-6 and ages 7–8 (age cutoff date is Dec. 31, 2018).
An organizational meeting will be held at 5 p.m. July 30, 2018 at Andrews Gym.
All teams interested in the league must send a representative to this meeting to obtain league information.

Sunrise Athletics is taking registration for its fall XC Ready-2-Run program through July 20.

UH-Hilo hoops camp
Registration forms are still available for the 2018 Vulcan Basketball Camp with coach Jimmy Yagi and Vulcan coaches GE Coleman and David Kaneshiro, held July 23-26 at the UHH gym and Panaewa gym.
The camp, a Hilo tradition for more than 40 years, is open to boys and girls basketball players ages 9-17. It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 or 4 p.m. each day (depending on age group).
Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt, a basketball, a team photo, and lunch each day.

Ohana fishing tournament
Late registration is still be accepted for 22nd annual ‘Ohana Shoreline Fishing Tournament, which will be held August 17-19.
Completed registration forms must be turned in to the County P&R Recreation Division office at 799Pi’ilani St. in Hilo.
Registration forms, along with tournament rules are available at County Parks and Recreation facilities,
S. Tokunaga Store in Hilo, J. Hara Store in Kurtistown, Hawaiian Island Creations in Waimea or online at http://www.hawaii county.gov/pr-recreation.
Weigh-ins will be conducted from noon-1:30 p.m. Aug. 19 Honokaa Sports Complex.
Divisions offered are 5-12, teens, men, women, kupuna and ohana.
There also will be a barbless circle hook challenge.
Entry fee is $25 or $30 depending on division.
Make checks payable to County of Hawaii Director of Finance.
Prizes and awards will be presented for at least the seven heaviest fish in each of the six divisions.

Ka’u Coffee Trail Run
The fifth annual Ka’u Coffee Trail Run will be held Sept. 22 offering 5K, 10K and half-marathon races through macadamia nut and coffee fields along the slopes of rural Ka’u.
The runs are sponsored by O Ka’u Kakou, and all profits benefit the community, a release said. The races begin and end at the Ka’u Coffee Mill in Pahala.
Early registration runs through Monday. The fees are 5K ($30), 10K (40) and HM ($50), and the prices increase by $5 through Aug. 13.
