A man was killed in a single-car rollover this morning in Ocean View.
According to a written Fire Department statement, the alarm was received at 7:09 a.m. and an engine and medical unit were dispatched to the scene, between the 82- and 83-mile markers of Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11).
Firefighters arrived at 7:21 a.m. to find the car overturned about 20 yards off the roadway and the lone male occupant, estimated to be about 40, dead at the scene.
The scene was turned over to police for investigation.
This fatality is the 21st on Big Island roads so far this year, compared to 24 official fatalities at the same time last year.
