Police responded to a possible burglary at an Orchidland Estates home, only to charge a resident of the house with numerous felony offenses.
On Aug. 20 at 3:45 p.m., Puna patrol officers responded to a report of a possible burglary at the home, only to encounter 33-year-old Kalei Kona Brooks, who was later determined to be a resident of the home, in possession of a stolen vehicle, police said. A search of Brooks’ body also turned up a pair of concealed handguns and drug paraphernalia in his pockets.
Brooks was charged Wednesday with two counts of prohibited possession prohibited of a firearm, unregistered firearm, unauthorized control of a stolen vehicle, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His bail was set at $70,000 and his initial court appearance is scheduled for today.
