Benjamin “Butch” Medallia, 74, of Waipahu, Oahu, formerly of Hilo, died July 9 at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hilo, he was a retired briefing manager for Aloha VIP Tours, tour guide for Tradewinds Tour Hawaii, U.S. Navy veteran and Hilo High School graduate. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday (Aug. 31) at Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary Makai Chapel. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Interment with full military honors 1 p.m. at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl). Survived by wife, Linda Medallia of Waipahu; son, Michael Fujita of the mainland; daughter, Shawn Leland of the mainland; stepson, William (Bella) Cooper of the mainland; sisters, Arlene (Ceriaco) Tacderan of Kailua-Kona and Hilo and Alice (Joseph Jr.) Farias of Hilo; brothers- and sisters-in-law; two stepgrandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
