East Hawaiian Cultural Center will showcase a Makers Market this year from 4-9 p.m. Nov. 2 during downtown Hilo’s biggest First Friday event, the annual Black and White Night.
East Hawaiian Cultural Center will showcase a Makers Market this year from 4-9 p.m. Nov. 2 during downtown Hilo’s biggest First Friday event, the annual Black and White Night.
Featuring Big Island artisans with handcrafted works, this community-building event was created to bring together a curated selection of quality crafts, giving the public a chance to meet the makers.
There will be a wide variety of ceramics made for functional ware, home decor and garden. A selection of glass art, jewelry, clothing, woodwork and traditional Hawaiian crafts also will be available. The featured makers hail from Kona, Waimea, Volcano and Hilo side. A listing of those involved is available at the EHCC website.
Pirate Kitchen and Any Kine Wontons also will participate, providing snacks and wood-fired pizza. The the Hilo Urb Farm will have an evening plant sale in its garden on the EHCC site and will divert organic waste from the event into compost.
The event is free and open to the public and will be hosted at the East Hawaii Cultural Center Annex, 141 Kalakaua St., across from Kalakaua Park in downtown Hilo.
