Honorable mention shout-outs here to Hilo High’s Shayden Kang (second in state air riflery) and Kamehameha’s Izayah Chartrand-Penera (4 picks in the BIIF D-II final) as well as a belated one for the Warriors’ Kanani Araki (No. 1 at the BIIF air riflery finals a few weeks back).

But to the victors go the spoils. Aniol didn’t just win the 20th HHSAA air riflery championships, he set a state record with a 561 qualifying score and 645.7 final total. Kang was second at 636.5.
