Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center — together with the Hawaii County Bar Association — is hosting the 13th annual Recognition Dinner and Auction from 5-8 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 11) at Nani Mau Gardens in Hilo.
Tickets are still available.
Founded in 1983, Ku‘ikahi has been “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” for 35 years.
This year, the Peacemaker Award will be presented to Debra Ching Maiava, owner of Ponds Hilo and manager of Ken’s House of Pancakes. The Bar Association is honoring Charlene Iboshi, retired Hawaii County prosecuting attorney.
This special event is open to the public, and the audience will include judges, attorneys, mediators, business leaders and other involved members of the community. The event is expected to sell out, so make reservations now.
The annual event includes a buffet featuring three entrees — carved roast prime rib, chicken marabella and macadamia nut crusted fish — and Caesar salad, vegetable rice pilaf, fresh garden grilled vegetable primavera, mashed kabocha squash, dessert and choice of punch, iced tea and coffee.
Auction items will include gift certificates for rounds of golf, outdoor excursions, overnight stays and dining experiences; artwork and gift baskets; fine wines; orchids; and much more.
Tickets are $90 and can be purchased online at www.hawaiimediation.org/events.html. Tickets also are available at Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center, Day-Lum Rentals and The Most Irresistible Shop in Hilo, or by contacting Erika at 935-7844, ext. 1, or erika@hawaiimediation.org.
