Take a stand
Thanks for the article covering the Hu Honua informational meeting and state Department of Health hearing on the injection wells hosted Nov. 14. The coverage was quite accurate.
I attended a good portion of the meeting and hearing and there was one thing that stood out to me. A young girl was seated in the audience with her mom and held a sign that read, “All I want for Christmas is clean water and air.” That pretty much summed up what this is all about.
I think it’s time that our elected officials stand up for what is right for our future generations. You know who you are, and up to now you have failed this young lady and our future generations.

‘Pompous’ letter
Councilwoman Eileen O’Hara’s Nov. 18 letter to the editor shows how far out of touch politicians are with reality.
In her narcissistic, pompous, self-congratulating letter she tries (unsuccessfully) to so show how the County Council is working hard for the public. That’s her ego-inflated opinion.
Alas, I agree with Mr. Geoffrey Shaw’s opinion (Tribune-Herald, Your Views): They are overpaid, incompetent, lazy, mealymouthed politicians feeding at the public trough.
He’s correct in saying if their pay was performance-based they would owe us money.
Then she attacks Jennifer Ruggles because, according to O’Hara’s lofty standards, she’s not doing her job (like spending every penny she can just because its there.) Maybe O’Hara should butt out of District 5 business and mind her own.
Then she really gets on a roll, they’re “working hard” — ever seen any of them break a sweat in the council meetings? They got those jobs in the first place so they didn’t have to work. How hard is it to spend everyone else’s money?
She cites the resolution to “treat North Korea with aloha” as important business. If that’s important county business I’d hate to see what’s unimportant.
It’s good O’Hara is double-jointed so she can pat herself on the back so much.
