A chartered airplane was blocking the main runway at Hilo International Airport on Thursday morning after a tire blew out upon landing.
Tim Sakahara, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation, said there were no injuries and other aircraft were utilizing a smaller runway for takeoff and landing.
He said the twin-engine propeller plane operated by Interisland Airways landed shortly after 10:30 a.m. It was expected to be removed around 12:30 p.m.
The plane carried 28 passengers and three crew members from Honolulu.
