Michael Lagario recorded hat trick as the boys beat Ka’u 4-0 on Thursday on their field, after Emily Turmelle scored twice as the girls downed the Trojans 6-0 as the Cougars teams each picked up the first BIIF wins of the season.
Logario is responsible for four of the six goals Keaau’s boys (1-8) has scored this season. Analu Kahihikolo also registered a goal, and Brandon Ball and Alex Castro each had a hand in the shutout of Ka’u (0-11).
Turmelle scored her second and third goals of the season for Keaau’s girls (1-9), Karli-Rose Ferrari, Maurice Riingen, Ciara Hester and Isabella-Rose Ferrari also scored, and Miranda Hester collected the shutout against the Trojans (0-11).
Boys
Hawaii Prep 9, Kohala 0: Jake Schneider compiled a hat trick, giving him a league-best 35 goals on the season, and Noah Balaam scored twice in Kapaau as Ka Makani improved to 10-0.
Ignat Nesposountnii converted a penalty kick, and Riley Hiatt, Toby Balaam and Aidan Richardson also scored goals.
Keaton Riley secured the shutout.
The Cowboys (3-7) lost their fifth in row and remain with nine points in Division II along with Konawaena (3-7) and Honokaa (3-8). The teams are vying for the final two spots in the playoffs.
